Testimonials

Good afternoon John,

I am about your son’s age and new to stock market trading. I’m not willing to take on a lot of risk at this time (30 years old with a wife and 4 young boys of my own) but I’ve very much enjoyed the limited trading I’ve been doing over the past few months.

I’ve also very much enjoyed listening to your podcast and I want to thank you for publishing them. In particular I’ve enjoyed the humor you sprinkled into your wisdom. Thanks again for sharing your experiences with me!

In one of the last episodes, you offered to send a .XLS template that allows me to input potential stock into columns that reflect your metrics; is this something you’re still willing to share? If so, do you mind forwarding to me?

Thank you again for your guidance; please wish me a lot of discernment and a little luck as I press forward!

I just wanted to say I am a huge fan.

I recently started listening to your podcast on a road trip. Being 26 years old, a first-generation student currently working on my bachelor’s, your podcast has made understanding the stock market so much easier, and much less of a bore. I find your anecdotes very endearing.

I would very much appreciate it if you could send me your spreadsheet. I am eager to get started. Thank you for your time.

I just wanted to extend my thanks for your investing podcast on Spotify. I’m a fairly new investor working in the IT industry who was previously investing solely on company familiarity rather than metrics. Your very straightforward process has made me much more knowledgeable and confident in my picks, and I’m am now considering investing in companies outside of my comfort zone such as Caterpillar and Johnson and Johnson. Thank you so much for the free content. It truly impacted me in a meaningful way. I wish you all the best in these trying times.

I have started your podcast about a week ago and almost done!
I find it extremely helpful for a beginner like me.
Thank you very much for all you do,
As we entered this extremely volatile phase, I thought it would be a good time to start investing.
On one of your podcasts, you were talking about templets for your metrics.
I would like to know if I could please ask you for that. I would love to start from there.
Thank you and stay safe!

My name is Adrian M. from Miami. I drive a street sweeper overnight, pulling graveyard shifts, and as you can imagine it can be very challenging at times staying awake. I can tell you that one of the few things that has helped me keep awake over the past week has been your podcast. I finished season 1 and started to replay it just so I can absorb all of the information you’re giving us. I want to thank you deeply for being my new found source of caffeine.
I recently started investing in the stock market. I have 0 knowledge of the game and like many others have been afraid to place my money in something I knew nothing about. A few of my friends had been doing so for a while and I’m sure they were skeptical at first like I was. I decided to jump to the opportunity now that a lot of the stocks have plummeted and I am now able to afford to buy some bonds where I couldn’t before.
I don’t want to continue blabbing on about myself, I’m sure you have hundreds if not thousands of emails to sort through. I would very much like to be added to your email distribution where you continue to share your knowledge with the common folk about the stock market.
Thank you and God bless

My name is Jason, I’m 34 and I come from a small coastal town in Australia.

I have just finished listening to all of your podcasts. Firstly, I hope you haven’t succumbed to landscaping since recording your last episode haha!

I just wanted to extend my gratitude and appreciation for your efforts in providing information to anyone willing to learn about the stock market. I have to admit, I had little to no knowledge before I stumbled across your podcast. I will admit, since learning about dividend aristocrats, PE ratios and Beta’s. I want to continue learning more about these concepts so I can further grasp what it all means and how it will help me and my family.

I’m currently studying Education at University. Yes you read that correctly. I’m a mature aged university student and by choice I might add. I knew from a young age I wanted to finish school and work my ass off so when I had enough money to travel, I was gone. When I returned home, the cycle would start again, with the intention of pursuing university when I was ready to settle down. Well, this philosophy led me to some amazing parts of the world, 21 countries in Europe and I have traveled across the US and Canada twice to name a few destinations.

Now that I have a beautiful girlfriend I plan on spending the rest of my life with, an occupational goal of becoming a High School History and Health & Physical Education Teacher and a life goal of starting a family; I want to learn as much I can about the stock market to ensure the future of my family is bright and secure.

I apologise for the long email. One question I do have is:
I have saved $1000 (which is no mean feat when studying full-time). Is it possible to enter into the market with such a small sum of money? Or should I continue to learn, research and further understand as much as I can whilst continuing to save and then begin to pick stocks once I have a more informed opinion?

Once again, I want to thank you for creating these podcasts for people like myself who want to learn more about the stock market and gain the confidence to enter into it.

Also, loved the poem regarding the train journey and the many different stations in life. Loved it.

I’m a 23 year old high school teacher from the southern Oregon area, and I just blitzed through your podcast on investing in stocks. I’ve recently gotten into investing—the market collapse seemed like a prime opportunity for me to start buying—and I stumbled onto your podcast while trying to further my knowledge. I’ve really appreciated the advice, stories, and wisdom you shared, finding it to be informative, honest, and approachable. Thank you!

In your second to last episode you mentioned a spread sheet your friend uses to evaluate stocks she is interested in based on metrics similar to the ones that you use. Would you mind sharing a template with me? Again, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences, your podcast was really great for me. I hope you are doing alright amidst all of the covid chaos and wish you the best.

Hello,

Been listening to your podcast on Spotify and am throughly enjoying it.

I’m 27 and live in Melbourne, Australia. Starting buying a few stocks for down the path in my life and come across your podcast.

Really well spoken and love your views and how you tell your story.

Anyway I’m emailing you to request your spreadsheet tool.

I can only trade on Australian stock Exchange at the moment but excited to have a look at different stocks from a calculated perspective in which you have showed me.

Love your work.
